Today’s blog post was supposed to be a card featuring the New Product: Vintage Faceted Buttons! The new catalog product is found on page 176 of the Stampin’ Up! Catalog and is packaged with 24 buttons, 8 each of 3 sizes: 3/8”, 1/2” and 13/16”. I have to admit when I first saw them I was immediately intrigued!
But, when my order arrived, I was even more pleasantly surprised by the faceting and sparkle of the new Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons! Wow!!
Needless to say, just looking at the buttons was a distracting activity… so today’s card has no buttons, but I’ll share a cool tip for creating a fun star embellishment using the vintage faceted designer buttons… but first today’s card!
It’s Christmas here on Created By You (LOL the card, not the holiday)! Can you believe that in just 5 short months it will be time to get those Christmas cards postal? Better start soon!Today’s Christmas Card features the new Christmas Blessings Stamp Set along with Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper (DSP). I love the richness of the new in colors this year… here I’ve paired the DSP with Very Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple, and Gumball Green card stock. After stamping the holly bough using gumball green ink, it was colored using blender pens by pulling color from the stamped image lines into the leaves and berries. With the new ink formulation, the blender pen works really, really well to color smaller areas! In color 2012-14 markers were then used to outline and accent the leaf center veins, and outside edges and dimple in berries.
The focal sentiment is one of two included with stamp images in the Christmas Blessings stamp set.. the other sentiment shares similar script and says simply “Sending Christmas BLESSINGS to you”.Whatever did we do before we had basic pearls jewels and rhinestones? LOL… I know we just used brads and eyelets! But these self adhesive jewels are just so very easy to use, aren’t they? I always pick up and place the jewels using the tips of my paper snips, making sure to grab the adhesive beneath as I move them.
I know so many of us are really missing our star punches since they retired… so today’s tip for paper crafters will show you a different way to use the new vintage faceted designer buttons, and make a very special star too!The photo above shows the largest or 13/16” Vintage Faceted Designer Button and similarly sized boho blossoms star flower punch. But look what happens when I layer them together! No adhesive necessary… I just aligned punch and button and then pierced the hole using the fun new Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper Piercing Tool!
After removing the crystal vintage button from atop the punched flower, I enlarged the pierced holes before layering together and securing with a bit of cherry cobbler Bakers Twine… a really easy peasy Christmas Star! LOL.. A shot from another angle shows the magical luster of these new buttons! Now I have to go make a card or scrapbook page with a Christmas tree so I can use my sparkling pretty star!
See you tomorrow with a new card I look forward to reading your comments!
